You're not alone - this is one of the most, (if not the most) common issues I get asked for help with. It's something that every puppy owner has to go through, although some will experience greater issues than others. It's important to know that however bad it is, firstly it's totally fixable, and secondly, it's all totally normal.

How it works

Assessment

Call

We'll chat for 30 minutes remotely, covering all the general background information that I need to make sure that our training will appropriately cover every aspect when it comes to your puppy's mouthing behaviours.

Then, we'll chat more specifically about the issue, and get the ball rolling with advice for you on next steps.

Training Plan Created

Following our call, I'll put all of the information gathered together and come up with a fully tailored training plan to suit your goals and needs.

This will follow the general outline of my puppy biting programme, but will be adapted as needed to suit your individual circumstances and needs.

1:1 Sessions

During your 1:1 Sessions, we'll work together on the exercises and information needed to tackle your puppy's mouthing. These sessions happen at your home, and each will be supplemented by a writeup with your instructions for practice, and video content where applicable. If you wish to continue with sessions following completion of the number included in the package, we'll book those in!

What's the deal with puppy biting?

Why so many puppy owners struggle with it, and where we can start finding solutions!

Basic bodily needs

Very simply, we can look at puppy biting as the dog equivalent to babies crying; that is, as information. Puppies can become mouthy when they're hungry, tired, need to toilet, or are experiencing pain. All of these basic bodily needs can be tracked and pre-empted to reduce mouthing as much as possible!

Boredom, frustration

If bored from lack of stimulation, or frustrated from things like lack of access to stimuli, puppies turn to mouthing. This is another easy-to-address area which we can work on right away!

Overstimulation

Over-excitement can be as bad as boredom when it comes to mouthing! Overstimulated puppies get mouthy very rapidly, and this is one of the times you may encounter this most frequently. Learning how to spot your pup's thresholds and how to avoid going above can be a big help in tackling mouthing.

Mouth manners

Puppies don't know that we don't like being mouthed until we teach them! If you watch how puppies and young dogs interact, you'll notice it's very mouth-heavy. The responsibility to communicate that we don't like mouthing is on us.
